1912 Edwardian VELVET & OSTRICH FEATHER GAINSBOROUGH WIDE-BRIM HAT

Circa 1912, All-Original Rare Titanic-Era “Gainsborough” Wide-Brim Velvet Hat, the Brim Laden with Ombré caramel to ivory dyed Ostrich Plumes. Ruched Velvet at Crown and Completely Ruched around the Brim which Measures 15 1/4″ diameter. Milliner’s Label reads “Schaffer Fine Millinery, 230 Southern Avenue, Pittsburgh PA”. Easy to near-pinpoint the date of this hat since the “H” was added back to “Pittsburgh” in 1911, & Titanic sank in 1912. It is Exquisite, there is one point of very minor nap-wear to the velvet & some brown spots. Small tear nestled in the folds of the velvet at the crown. No shedding to the plumes, the interior silk lining exhibits some shredding. Rare & One-of-A-Kind addition to the Millinery Collection.
