1970’s BESPOKE “GROOVEASE” Patchwork BROCADES-VELVET Rock-N-Roll BLAZER
Custom-Made “Crazy Patchwork” Blazer, Sewn by Tom & Vivienne Scozzafava, 220 East 60th St., New York. Acquired from the estate of the original wearer, who at that time modeled in Manhattan. Brocades, Velvet, Bullion Thread Embroidered Fabrics, Damask, Denim, Psychedelics, Chenilles. The Damask Fabric pre-dates the 1960s. There is even an original Double “Love” Patch on one sleeve. Lined in Silk Jacquard, Single Jet-Glass Button at front but in the pocket, are three additional jet-glass buttons should you wish to replace the single (she wore it as a single-button but there are 3 button holes at front). Not much information about the makers & the Label, other than they were extremely skilled with Appliqué & their garments were very pricey (noted in an article from New York Magazine, April, 1991). They incorporated this particular “Groovease” label in August, 1987 & it was dissolved a few months later. Jacket Measures Chest-36-Snug 38″, Waist-31″, Sleeve-25 1/2″, Shoulder seam to seam-15″, Length rear collar seam to hem-27″. In Excellent overall condition, estate-direct, a rub at the rear shoulder above the tassels (see pic), two stains at the cuff (pic) & light dirt at the shoulders from storage, Estate-Direct.
