1950’s “Lilli Diamond of California” Jet-Black Rayon Peau de soie Crepe Cocktail Dress, High Illusion Lace Halter Neckline dotted with Prong-Set Rhinestones. Just as stunning is the deep plunging back, clasped at the waist with a large Paste Rhinestone Functional Buckle, falling into two full pleated “Tails” that cascade to the hemline. Measures Chest-32-34″, Waist-25″, Hip-36-Snug 37″, Length waist to Hem-27″. The dry-cleaners tag remains pinned inside this dress. Amazing condition, likely worn once, 2 of the rhinestones at the neckline have darkened slightly, a few slightly yellowed stones in belt. Inside one rear pleat, is a scattering of rubs & a few small frays. My conclusion is that this “tail” got stuck in the machinery at the dry-cleaners, (there would be no other explanation). Fortunately, it is completely concealed due to the pleating on the tail. Under the tail there are a few additional minor smudges as shown, The photos have been lightened to show these in detail. At the top of the rear metal zipper, there is some very minor pin-tip size rubs, to the left of the eye-hook, as shown.
