1920’s habit à la française 18th Century FRENCH REVOLUTION COSTUME
Meticulously custom-sewn for the original wearer, 1920’s French Revolution Costume, the Jacket & Waistcoat utilizing Edwardian Rose Print fine cotton fabric, the ivory breeches of silken glazed cotton, matching rosettes at the calves. Lavish valenciennes lace waterfall jabot & cuffs, “powdered” yarn wig as shown, exactly as found. Princess-seamed Tailcoat Jacket & waistcoat have gilt filigree ball buttons & gold gimp trim. Jacket is lined in rich gold glazed cotton similar to that of the Breeches. Waistcoat & Jacket are one-piece construction, concealed snap front, adjustable snaps at the calves of the breeches, the jabot is detachable via snaps & is part of a high collar. Breeches have concealed snaps at the sides of both hips. Hat has an elastic chin strap which retains it’s stretch, (some stains to the interior). Measures chest-36″, waist-32″, shoulder seam to seam-16 1/2″, sleeve-25″, length rear collar seam to hem-37″ at rear tail. Breeches measure waist-30″, hip-35″, inseam-15″. In overall extraordinary condition with no noteworthy detractions to note other than a few tiny spots below the front waistband of breeches as shown, a small 1/4″ smudge, also shown, & some minor light yellowed streaking which is very difficult to see. Very light yellowing at the concealed edges of the armholes of the waistcoat as shown.
