1900 ARTS & CRAFTS Period LEATHER Bag w/ART NOUVEAU OVERLAY

Rare to Find a Gibson-Girl Era Leather Bag such as this Arts & Crafts Piece. Reticulated Art Nouveau Vining Floral Overlay at the Front which is Riveted to the Leather w/Tiny Faceted Metal Studs. Unique Round Leather Covered “Handle” Ring at the Top Suspending the Purse from two chains, similar to a Chatelaine. Has a Particularly Ingenious Squeeze-Plunger Hasp w/Ball Swivel Pull, Hidden Front Pocket accessible by lifting the overlay flap. Stamped “M. Déposé” at front, & at the rear below the hasp “Lond.Rd.No.14155 Paris Dep.M.S.” Measures 5 3/8″ X 6″, Chain Drop measures 6 1/2″. Very Good Condition with some marks and scuffs at the rear, silk lining is in disrepair.
